SCL were commissioned to design an apartment facility by one of the first Canadian property developers to enter the real estate market in UAE. The design brief required us to develop a design that could serve as a flagship development for the company in the Middle East. Our design proposal forms a unique skyline of the twin towers that are connected by a ground floor podium that houses 5 star facilities and amenities for its residents and guests.

We were commissioned to design a serviced apartment facility by one of the first UK based property developers to enter the real estate market in the UAE -- The First Group. The de-sign brief required us to develop a design that would serve as the flagship development for the company in the Middle East and therefore called for a unique form. We proposed a design inspired by the angular facades of a “diamond”. These facets form dramatic spaces within the master bedrooms as fully glazed corner units that define the design. Other amenities include a fully fitted out spa facility, travelers and long term guests. Apart from architectural design our scope of services also include building services design, landscape design, structural design, quantity surveying and project management.

SCL was commissioned to design a 12 storey residential apartment twin tower development. Our scope included for pro-viding full design consultancy services, project management & site supervision. The design brief required us to develop a contemporary yet tradition inspired design that would serve the rental market of Abu Dhabi. Use of earthly colored facade, juxtaposed against modern glazed curtain wall systems created a unique mixture of contemporary and traditional architecture design.

We were invited to submit our proposal as part of a closed competition by one of the first UK based property developers to enter the real estate market in the UAE - The First Group. The client brief called for an “iconic” yet “commercially viable” design.
Our design proposal consisted of two pie shaped structures connected via a “bridge: in the form of a glazed central hallway. the uniquely designed curving balconies further lend drama to the design yet are super efficient in terms of space planning and commercial viability.
The “piece de resistance” is the balcony that ends in a dramatic point overlooking the waterbody at the centre of the hub.

SCL was commissioned to design a residential tower consisting of 38 residential floors, 4 podium floors & 3 basement car park levels.
This residential tower has a varied mix of unit types with Studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units as well as 4 bed duplex units.
The podium building contains retail and office space in addition to a gym, pool and other recreational facilities for the residents.
This project is currently on site.

Shankland Cox was engaged to provide full design services and construction supervision on this iconic project. In conjunction with the Green Mubazzarah Spa and Resort, this development was carried out at the instruction of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Former President of the UAE. The entire development covered more than 20 ha of land and was de-signed and built to an extremely fast track programme, where both Consultants and Contractor were required to work well beyond normal working hours. The main Presidential Majlis was designed and constructed and furnished within a 3½ month period.

Shankland Cox provided the client with a stunning landscape design for the private residence surrounded by desert on all sides. This development serves as a weekend retreat and pro-vides the client with privacy whilst drawing expansive views of the surrounding landscape.
Shankland Cox were also responsible for the design and supervision of the villa, swimming pool and other private residences on this exclusive plot.

Shankland Cox Ltd. were appointed directly by Nakheel to de-velop concept designs for villas and apartments which were planned to be built on Palm Deira, Dubai.
The house types and high end villas completed with private pools and high quality landscaping.
The villa types range from traditional Arabic to contemporary European style.
Shankland Cox also produced a landscape concept featuring a palm within a palm for the entire island. Shankland Cox designs were used by Nakheel as marketing images for this development.
Al Mafraq Staff Accommodation

Shankland Cox was engaged by TDIC to design the landscape masterplan for two separate accommodation plots with 6 storey, high quality, staff accommodations located at Al Mafraq, Abu Dhabi. This benchmark facility can house 1200 residents, in 550 units, with a combination of singles and family accommodations, and will provide the hotel staff with an excellent quality of life. This design is intended to be used as a prototype for future plots with a potential build out for over 10,000 residents, catering for the entire staff community of the luxury hotels located on nearby Saadiyat Island.
The landscape design has been through Estidama and LEED qualification and has amenities such as softscape and hardscape, gathering plazas, basketball courts, outdoor cafés, open space lawn and play areas, all contributing to the vibrant and positive sense of place.
